By Col. Tyler Olsen
Watching your children grow into adulthood is a journey filled with anticipation, but nothing compares to the profound sense of pride that comes when they choose a path of purpose. For my son, Jaden, that path has led him to Stephenville, Texas, and into the ranks of theTarleton State University Corps of Cadets. As a parent, I could not be prouder of the man he is becoming or the noble choice he has made to serve our Nation.
By joining the Texan Corps of Cadets in August of 2026, Jaden has stepped into a legacy of leadership, discipline, and excellence; it is a crucible that molds young men and women into principled leaders of character.I know the challenges ahead of him will be demanding, both mentally and physical, but I also know Jaden’s heart. He has always possessed the integrity, resilience, and respect that define our Nation’s very best.Seeing him embrace this challenging lifestyle with such dedication fills me with immense confidence.
Looking ahead, I am incredibly excited for his future. The rigorous academic support, leadership training, and tight-knit brotherhood within the Corps will undoubtedly set him up for lifelong success. More than anything, I am deeply moved by his decision to dedicate himself to something larger than himself. Choosing to serve our country is a calling of the highest order, requiring selfless service and courage. Jaden, as you wear the cadet uniform and begin this incredible chapter, know that I am standing behind you every step of the way.You have chosen a path of honor, and I cannot wait to watch you lead the way.
